Gone are the days when hotel bathrooms were purely functional spaces you dashed through enroute to the minibar.

Today’s luxury hotel bathrooms are design-forward sanctuaries decked out with sweeping views, jaw-dropping tubs, and details so beautiful you might forget to check out the rest of the suite.

“Whether you’re soaking under the stars or surrounded by mirrored walls, these hotel bathrooms are experiences in their own right,” says Peter Jones, the Director of ADI Leak Detection.

Below, this bathroom expert gives his round-up of the most breathtaking, Instagram-ready hotel bathrooms across the globe.

1. The Muraka At Conrad Maldives Rangali Island, Maldives

This is one bathroom where your rubber duck might feel a little out of place. At The Muraka, part of the world-renowned Conrad Maldives Rangali Island, your en suite isn’t just luxe, it’s submerged. Located 16 feet beneath the surface of the Indian Ocean, the suite’s bathroom walls are made entirely of curved acrylic, offering uninterrupted views of the surrounding coral gardens and marine life.

“Picture showering as shoals of technicolour fish drift past, or brushing your teeth while a manta ray glides overhead,” says Peter. “That’s an experience you can’t replicate at almost any other hotel.”

2. The Furka Suite At The Chedi Andermatt, Switzerland

Tucked away in a luxury ski resort in the Swiss Alps, this bathroom is less “get ready quickly and go” and more “call off your afternoon and stay in.” The Furka Suite’s spa-like setup includes a hot tub, sauna, and steam room all built into one expansive bathroom space. Natural materials like granite and timber create a cocooning effect, while oversized windows frame views of the alpine landscape in cinematic style.

“The bathroom in the Furka suite feels so inviting because it captures the essence of alpine luxury: warm, cocooning, and designed for slow, sensory indulgence after a day on the slopes,” says Peter.

3. Silo Hotel, Cape Town, South Africa

Few bathrooms pull off drama and playfulness quite like the Silo. Designed by Thomas Heatherwick and perched above the Zeitz Museum of Contemporary Art Africa, these bathrooms are a kaleidoscope of colour and geometry.

The standouts are the pillowed glass windows; bulbous, faceted panels that reflect light during the day and glow like lanterns at night. The bathtubs sit right next to them, perfectly positioned for long soaks with views across Cape Town, Table Mountain and the waterfront.

“The Silo’s bathroom design is bold, playful, and unmistakably art-driven,” says Peter. “It’s a space where design and view go hand-in-hand, with a flair that reflects the creative energy of Cape Town.”

4. The Vik Suite At VIK Chile

This one’s for lovers of art, wine, and seriously sculptural design. Located in the Millahue Valley, VIK Chile is surrounded by rolling vineyards, and the bathroom in the Vik Suite is all about making the most of that view.

The centrepiece? A swooping, hammock-inspired bath crafted by Splinterworks Studio. Suspended above the floor and fitted with heat-retaining insulation, it’s as much a conversation and art piece as a place to unwind. Floor-to-ceiling glass lets you gaze out at the Andes while you bathe – glass of red optional but encouraged!

5. Aman Tokyo, Japan

This sleek, ultra-minimalist bathroom proves you don’t need gold taps or chandeliers to create something unforgettable. Aman Tokyo draws on traditional Japanese residential design, with soft lighting, wooden details, and calming symmetry.

The real star is the furo soaking tub, carved from cool, calming grey stone and deep enough to disappear into. The bathrooms here are quietly lavish, with slate floors, spacious layouts, and views that stretch from Tokyo Tower to Mount Fuji on a clear day.

“Aman Tokyo’s bathrooms are a study in meditative minimalism,” says Peter. “Every line, every material, has been chosen for harmony and stillness.”

6. Singita Boulders Lodge, South Africa

If your idea of a perfect soak includes the possibility of spotting wildlife, you’ll love the bathrooms at Singita Boulders Lodge. Located on the banks of the Sand River in the Sabi Sand Reserve, each suite features a freestanding tub with direct views over the bushveld. Elephants, giraffes, even the occasional leopard might wander past as you sip a sundowner!

7. Areias do Seixo, Portugal

At the Areias do Seixo, a boutique eco-hotel just north of Lisbon, each suite is individually styled with global influences. From Moroccan tiling to reclaimed driftwood, the bathrooms are full of mood and texture.

Jacuzzi tubs are framed by candlelight, exposed stone, and floor-to-ceiling windows that open onto private terraces. By night, the team lights dozens of candles around the bathroom, turning it into a glowing sanctuary.

“Areias do Seixo is the definition of romantic eco-luxury,” says Peter. “The fusion of global design elements creates a sanctuary that feels both intimate and imaginative.”

8. The Ritz-Carlton, Hong Kong

The Ritz-Carlton Hong Kong doesn’t just scrape the sky, it floats above it. Occupying the top floors of the International Commerce Centre, its bathrooms are some of the highest on Earth.

Inside, it’s pure modern opulence: sleek marble, oversized mirrors, rainfall showers, and floor-level soaking tubs positioned against full-length windows. Whether you’re bathing in daylight with sweeping harbour views or watching the city sparkle below at night, these bathrooms double as the best seats in the house for taking in Hong Kong’s electric energy.

Peter Jones, the Director of ADI Leak Detection, commented: “Modern travellers’ expectations have evolved. Bathrooms used to be an afterthought, just somewhere to do necessary ablutions between relaxing by the pool and going on fun excursions. But now, they’re a destination within the destination.

“Today’s luxury guests are looking for immersive experiences, and a beautiful, well-designed bathroom is part of that emotional escape from the stress of everyday life that they’re looking for. It’s where design, wellness, and indulgence intersect.

“With the rise of platforms like Instagram and TikTok, it’s not just the lobby or rooftop pool that can stun on socials. A statement tub or a scenic shower can be just as shareable! Hotels are catching on and dedicating more square footage, budget, and creative energy to bathrooms than ever before.”
