Citybox and NCC have signed an agreement to develop Citybox Copenhagen at Islands Brygge. The hotel will feature 325 rooms, making it one of the largest additions to the Citybox portfolio to date. The project marks another important milestone in the company’s growth in Denmark.

Developed in partnership with NCC, the hotel will be located at Islands Brygge, one of Copenhagen’s most central and sought-after neighborhoods. Just minutes from the city center, Copenhagen Central Station, the waterfront, and the city’s many cultural attractions and restaurants, the hotel will offer guests easy access to everything Copenhagen has to offer while expanding the availability of modern hotel accommodations in the city.

For Citybox, the project represents another important step in the company’s expansion in Denmark, following the opening of Citybox Airport Hotel Copenhagen in Kastrup. At the same time, the agreement reflects NCC’s ambition to develop attractive, future-oriented properties in central Copenhagen.

In recent years, Copenhagen has experienced record-breaking visitor numbers and strong demand from both leisure and business travelers, reinforcing its position as one of the leading urban destinations in the Nordics. At the same time, the supply of modern, affordable hotels in central locations remains limited. With 325 rooms at Islands Brygge, Citybox Copenhagen will help meet this demand through an efficient and modern hotel concept.

The hotel will be developed according to the Citybox concept, combining efficient operations, digital self-service solutions, functional design, and central locations. This enables Citybox to offer comfortable stays at competitive prices without compromising on quality or the guest experience.

Over the past decade, Islands Brygge has undergone significant development and is now considered one of Copenhagen’s most dynamic neighborhoods. The area combines modern office space, residential buildings, restaurants, and cultural attractions with a waterfront setting just minutes from the city center. Through several projects, NCC has contributed to the area’s transformation, and Citybox Copenhagen will be a natural addition to the neighborhood.

“Islands Brygge is an attractive area with great potential. Our vision is to develop a hotel in one of Copenhagen’s best locations. The lease agreement with Citybox marks an important first step in the project, and we will now continue working to secure the right investor and prepare the project for construction at a later stage,” says Joachim Holmberg, Head of NCC Property Development at NCC Property.

With the Islands Brygge project, Citybox continues its expansion across the Nordics. Once completed, Citybox Copenhagen will become the company’s second hotel in Denmark, further strengthening its position as a leading provider of modern, affordable hotels. Upon completion, Citybox will have 565 rooms in Copenhagen and a total of 2,659 rooms across its existing and planned hotels in the Nordic region and Europe.

The project is still in its early stages, and construction and opening dates have not yet been determined.
