JW Marriott has appointed Bollywood star and former Miss World Aishwarya Rai Bachchan as its Global Brand Ambassador, in a move that underlines the growing clout of Indian travellers in the global luxury hotel market.
The actress, who has represented India on the international stage for more than two decades across cinema, fashion and philanthropy, will front the brand’s “Stay in the Moment” platform, the well-being philosophy rooted in the legacy of founder J. Willard Marriott that positions presence, rather than opulence, as the ultimate luxury.
Rai Bachchan will appear across international campaigns spanning film, print and digital channels, alongside curated brand experiences in India and selected global markets. The creative direction will centre on moments of reflection, connection and what the brand calls “quiet sophistication” within JW Marriott spaces.
The appointment is as much a statement about market strategy as it is about star power. JW Marriott, part of Marriott Bonvoy’s portfolio of more than 30 brands, operates over 130 properties worldwide, with India representing one of its most dynamic portfolios and development pipelines. Indian travellers are now the fastest-growing outbound luxury segment globally, with the country’s luxury travel market forecast to grow at a compound annual rate of 10.8 per cent through 2033, according to Grand View Research.
That momentum is already reshaping Marriott’s plans in the region. The group recently celebrated 75 signings and 50 openings for Series by Marriott in India in under six months, while India also ranks among the top international destinations for business travellers, driven by rising corporate travel spend and deepening trade ties.
“Aishwarya’s global stature, warmth, and authenticity make her a natural embodiment of JW Marriott and an ideal partner for the brand,” said Bruce Rohr, Vice President and Global Brand Leader, JW Marriott. “She brings a thoughtful, grounded presence that reflects the way our guests seek to travel, with intention and a sense of connection. As we continue to expand in India and across markets shaped by Indian travellers, this collaboration reinforces our commitment to celebrating presence as the ultimate in luxury experiences.”
For corporate travellers and bleisure guests alike, the appointment signals where premium hospitality is heading. Demand for high-end domestic travel in India is rising steadily, fuelled by increased affluence, multigenerational journeys and an appetite for meaningful, experience-led stays, part of a wider consumerisation of business travel experiences expected to accelerate through 2026.
India remains a strategic priority for Marriott International, with an expanding footprint across gateway cities and resort destinations. The announcement was confirmed via Hospitality Net, with the partnership intended to engage a new generation of luxury travellers through what the brand describes as “relevance, credibility, and emotional resonance”.
