A 98-room beachfront wellness retreat has opened on Hua Hin’s historic Khao Takiap coastline, bringing The Unbound Collection by Hyatt to Thailand for the first time.
Hyatt Hotels has unveiled THE BARAI HUA HIN, the inaugural property for its independent-minded Unbound Collection brand in Thailand. Set along a stretch of coast long favoured by generations of Thai royalty, the resort fuses an established wellness heritage with locally-inspired design and the spirit of Sanook (สนุก), the Thai expression for the joy of living.
The opening adds a distinctive wellness story to a brand built on one-of-a-kind hotels, and it lands as Hyatt continues an aggressive run of international growth. The group’s first-quarter 2026 results showed RevPAR up 5.4 per cent and a development pipeline approaching record levels, underlining the appetite for resort and lifestyle openings of exactly this kind.
Long before the wellness retreat became a global fixture, Hua Hin was already a place of restoration. Once a quiet fishing village known as Ban Samor Riang, the town became a beloved seaside escape for Siamese nobility in the early 20th century, and it remains one of Thailand’s most storied royal coastal destinations to this day. Its sheltered shoreline, warm sea breeze and gentle Gulf of Thailand tides shaped an easy-going elegance that still defines the coast.
THE BARAI HUA HIN draws directly on that legacy. It first opened as a spa 20 years ago, earning a global reputation for blending Thai healing traditions with modern Western wellness. Now expanded into a boutique resort, the reimagined property positions itself as a restorative sanctuary grounded in classic Thai hospitality.

Guests can also venture beyond the resort to explore Kui Buri National Park, Khao Sam Roi Yot National Park and Phraya Nakhon Cave before returning each day to a setting designed for quiet reconnection.
The design of the resort and its spa draws on the elemental forces of water, fire, earth and air. Architect Lek Mathar Bunnag reinterprets Thai heritage through a bold, contemporary lens, using shaded corridors, sculptural forms, tranquil courtyards and water features to encourage a slower, more reflective state of mind.
Two pools extend that dialogue between nature and design: the Forest Pool, a shaded, lagoon-like setting at the heart of the resort, and the Beach Pool, an oceanfront counterpoint overlooking the Gulf of Thailand.
The resort comprises 98 guest rooms and suites, including 27 suites and a pair of two-bedroom penthouses, each designed to frame the lush tropical setting. Open living spaces, expansive private balconies, deep soaking tubs and rainforest showers create a generous sense of luxury.
Higher-category suites add butler service, larger terraces, in-suite rituals and daily massage inclusions for guests seeking an added level of privacy and personalisation.
At the centre of the resort, THE BARAI Spa takes its name from the ancient barays, the reservoirs that once sustained daily life across the region’s early empires. Pools, courtyards, stone passageways and quiet spaces are arranged to slow the breath and heighten the senses.
Wellness extends to a two-storey Wellness Hub housing a 24-hour fitness studio, yoga studio, holistic zone and wellness shop. Programmes are anchored in the resort’s elemental philosophy, inviting guests to explore Earth for grounding, Water for release, Air for vitality and Fire for momentum. Signature pathways cover women’s health, sleep recovery, back care, longevity, emotional wellbeing and heart health, each built around a personalised wellness map. The hub is guided by CM.D. Chuthamat Srinoi, known as Dr Cash, an integrated wellness practitioner whose work brings together traditional Chinese medicine, sound vibration, energy healing and mindful art.
The opening reflects a wider industry shift, with operators across the sector betting that immersive wellness-led retreats can command both leisure demand and the growing bleisure market.
THE BARAI HUA HIN offers two dining destinations led by Chef Benn Rowe, whose career spans notable kitchens across Australia and Thailand. His menus celebrate coastal abundance, seasonal produce and the convivial pleasure of dining well by the sea.
As the brand’s first property in Thailand, THE BARAI HUA HIN further expands The Unbound Collection by Hyatt’s portfolio of independent, one-of-a-kind hotels, each distinguished by its character, individuality and deep connection to its surroundings.
The brand is expected to continue its global growth this year with Cayo Levantado in the Dominican Republic and The Clayfield in Canada, part of a busy roster of luxury hotel openings set to reshape business travel in 2026.
