Virgin Atlantic and Virgin Red have launched a new flight redemption offer, with members able to get 30 per cent off reward seat redemption on selected routes to the US, Caribbean and Asia.

The discount is valid for economy, Premium and Upper Class redemptions, as well as upgrades booked using Virgin Points.

Companion bookings – including those earned on Virgin Atlantic credit cards – are also eligible for the discount, but the offer is not valid for Gold Reward Flights (ie: those reward flights booked with double points), or on Points Plus Money bookings.

Members must book by February 28, for travel by May 31, 2023.

Eligible routes are as follows:

  • London Heathrow to Atlanta, Austin, Boston, Los Angeles, Miami, New York, San Francisco, Seattle, Tampa, Washington, Antigua, Islamabad, Lahore (*departures until April 30, 2023), Mumbai, Tel Aviv and vice versa
  • Manchester to New York and vice versa
  • The 30 per cent discount applies to the points redemption element of the booking only – taxes, fees and carrier-imposed surcharges must be paid under the normal rate.

The Virgin Red scheme was officially opened up to new members in 2021, allowing Virgin Atlantic Flying Club members to join Virgin Red and link their accounts together, expanding earn and burn opportunities.

Both schemes use the same currency, following the rebranding of Flying Club miles as Virgin Points in September 2020.

In August last year Virgin Red added 56 new retailers to its online points earning programme, including Dell, Homebase, Molton Brown, and Ticketmaster, and in December a total of 140 Cineworld, Picturehouse and Showcase cinemas have joined the scheme’s redemption portfolio.
