Zurich: Take the plunge in town

The morning hours on the shores of Lake Zurich are particularly beautiful. While the city is slowly awakening, early risers are already taking a dip at the Badi Utoquai, built in 1890 or in the still mirror-smooth Lake Zurich.

On a real wave Between Skyscrapers and Train Tracks beginners and pros alike surf the standing wave at Urbansurf, located between the tallest building in the city, Prime Tower, and the creative urban quarter around Frau Gerolds Garten. A bar and restaurant, as well as changing live concerts, which cater to the needs of guests around the wave, turn the sporting experience into a day by the sea – in the heart of Zurich.

“Badi” Hopping is the new Island Hopping

Zurich’s wild swimming is arguably best experienced in summer at its many iconic lidos, locally called “Badi”, and beloved by tourists and locals alike. Zurich can look back on a bathing culture that is rich in tradition and is still actively lived to this day. In summer, a visit to the “Badi” s an integral part of daily life. What do you prefer? A sandy beach, a diving tower, a panoramic view of the Alps, a grassy area to sunbathe, under trees, on the lake, by the river or in the heart of the city? Zurich has the right outdoor bathing facility for every taste.

Where there is water there is wellness. And after swimming is before relaxation. What could be better than relaxing your tired muscles with a hot steam bath, in the sauna, or during a massage? An option for getting wet would be a visit to the rooftop thermal bath at Hürlimannbad & Spa. Thermal baths and a Roman-Irish spa in the century-old stone vaults of a former brewery are awaiting visitor. Or how about the women’s only thermal bath Alma Spa? Moments of relaxation can be shared in the sauna and steam bath and a wonderful view from the Rooftop Terrasse over lake Zurich.
