Finnair has announced the cancellation of approximately 50 flights scheduled for Monday, 2 June, due to a four-hour industrial action by the Finnish Aviation Union (IAU) at Helsinki Airport.

Finnair has announced the cancellation of approximately 50 flights scheduled for Monday, 2 June, due to a four-hour industrial action by the Finnish Aviation Union (IAU) at Helsinki Airport.

The disruption, which targets ground handling and catering services throughout the day, is expected to affect around 3,600 passengers.

The walkout, similar to the action taken on Friday, 30 May, will severely impact Finnair’s home hub operations. Although the strike is limited in duration, it affects multiple shifts and key services, forcing the airline to reduce its flight schedule.

Passengers affected by cancellations will be contacted directly by Finnair and offered alternative travel options, which will also be viewable via the airline’s “Manage Booking” service and mobile app. Customers may rebook flights within availability or opt for a full refund of the unused ticket.

Travellers flying on 2 June are advised to check-in in advance, arrive at the airport early, and keep essentials like medication in their carry-on luggage, as baggage handling services may also be impacted.

The IAU has warned of further industrial action on Wednesday, 4 June. Finnair expects additional disruptions and will confirm any further flight cancellations on Monday.

Finnair is allowing customers with bookings on the strike days to change their travel dates without penalty.
