Domaine des Etangs Auberge, the idyllic 13th-century château nestled within 2,500 acres of rolling countryside in France’s Limousin region, has announced a transformative summer wellbeing retreat led by acclaimed London-based sound healer and meditation expert, Stephanie Waxberg.
Running from 7 to 10 July, the immersive experience offers guests a rare opportunity to unwind, reconnect and find balance within one of Europe’s most serene natural settings. Waxberg—an accredited practitioner renowned for her deeply grounding and restorative sound baths—will guide guests through a curated programme of healing sessions including sunrise and sunset sound baths, 1:1 consultations, and a heart-opening cacao ceremony.
Utilising crystal alchemy bowls, Koshi chimes and tuning forks, Waxberg’s approach merges vibrational sound with meditative stillness, encouraging profound relaxation and emotional clarity. The sessions are hosted against the stunning backdrop of Domaine des Etangs Auberge, where guests will enjoy alfresco picnics overlooking the château, forest bathing walks, and seasonal fine dining at Michelin-starred Dyades, led by Executive Chef Matthieu Pasgrimaud.
Beyond the retreat’s daily programme, guests can further their wellness journey at the estate’s secluded lakeside spa, Le Moulin des Étangs. Housed in a beautifully restored mill, the spa has recently partnered with French-Californian skincare brand Odacité, known for its fusion of raw botanicals with clinical-grade actives. Three bespoke Odacité treatments, developed exclusively for Domaine des Etangs by founder Valérie Grandury, are now available and form part of the retreat’s wider wellbeing offering.
The spa experience is enhanced with access to the estate’s historic Gallo-Roman thermal baths, frigidarium, hammam, indoor pool, and a stunning outdoor swimming area that looks out onto the estate’s peaceful waterways.
Accommodation at Domaine des Etangs Auberge includes 11 luxurious rooms and suites within the château itself, alongside six private farmhouse cottages ranging from one to five bedrooms—ideal for those seeking a longer escape or travelling as a small group. Rooted in “art de vivre,” the retreat invites guests to immerse themselves in nature, gastronomy and simple pleasures, while surrounded by undisturbed lakes, meadows and woodlands alive with birdlife, deer and wild flora.
Guests can also explore a wealth of slow-living activities, from mushroom foraging and horseback riding to row boating and cycling with picnic stops along the estate’s scenic trails. Cultural and culinary excursions to nearby Massignac village, the Cognac region, or even Dordogne and Bordeaux, can be easily added as part of an extended itinerary.
Commenting on the retreat, Waxberg said: “It’s an honour to be collaborating with Domaine des Etangs Auberge for this very special summer offering. This is more than a retreat—it’s a sensory reconnection to nature, silence and the wisdom within.”
For those seeking a luxurious, immersive escape into wellness, culture and the calm of the French countryside, this retreat offers a one-of-a-kind opportunity to reset and recharge under expert guidance in a truly exceptional setting.
