Dublin-based Staycity Group has opened its boutique lifestyle aparthotel brand, Wilde, in the centre of the historic city of Cambridge.

Wilde, Cambridge City Centre offers 227 studio and one-bed apartments sleeping up to four people, including 22 accessible rooms, all with fully equipped kitchenettes and space to dine, relax or work. Facilities include a gym and laundry room with a key design element being its attractive multi-purpose, ground floor communal space with a co-working area and comfortable lounge.

The ground floor features an all-day café bar serving a range of drinks and dishes made with locally sourced ingredients while the attractive landscaped terrace provides a relaxed, outdoor space where guests can dine or enjoy a glass of wine. A shop on the ground floor sells artisanal foods and drinks such as regional cheeses, charcuterie, locally brewed beers and meals to prepare in the apartments.

The aparthotel’s interiors, created by interior design specialist Thurstan, include a curated collection of artworks showcasing Cambridge-based artists with surrealist oil paintings, evocative landscapes, prints and photography.

The property was developed by Marick Real Estate with a focus on sustainability and the reduction of carbon emissions making use of high-performance construction materials, air source heat pump technology, 56 solar panels and a rainfall harvesting system. The apartments are fitted with Water2 filtration systems, creating drinkable tap water by eliminating 99.9% of microplastics while biodiversity has been encouraged with the use of plants to attract pollinating insects, bat and bird boxes and a bee hotel.

Martin Newbould, the newly appointed general manager of Wilde, Cambridge, commented: “I am thrilled to be involved with bringing the Wilde brand to the beautiful, historic city of Cambridge and creating a space that showcases the city and forms a meeting place for the local community.
