On the edge of London’s vibrant East End, where street art meets skyscrapers, Hyatt Place London City East is redefining what a modern business hotel can be.
Winner of AHEAD Europe’s Special Award for Sustainability, the hotel blends creative flair with forward-thinking hospitality—from skyline suites to one of London’s top rooftop bars, PocketSquare.
At the centre of this story is Pino Dispinseri, a seasoned hotelier who began his journey in a traditional Italian family in London, where hospitality was simply a way of life. From barefoot grape-stomping in his father’s garage to launching landmark properties across Europe, Pino has built his career on connection, creativity, and service that feels like home.
Now, as General Manager, he’s bringing that same energy to East London—leading a team that’s as passionate about sustainability as it is about creating memorable guest experiences.
What inspired you to pursue a career in hotel management?
My passion began with food, drink, and the joy of creating experiences that bring people together. I’ve always been fascinated by how small details—warm welcomes, great service, thoughtful touches—can leave a lasting impression.
Hotel management brings together everything I love: people, leadership, operations, creativity, and service. It’s fast-paced, dynamic, and incredibly rewarding.
How do you balance emerging trends and evolving guests’ preferences?
It’s about staying curious and responsive. I follow industry trends, attend events, and pay close attention to guest feedback.
Whether it’s sustainability, unique dining concepts, or enhanced digital convenience, we focus on integrating trends in ways that complement our brand and guest expectations.
By blending what guests already love with thoughtful innovation, we create experiences that feel both fresh and comfortably familiar.
Looking back, is there anything you would have done differently?
Yes—early in my career, I focused too much on my own area without fully understanding how all departments work together. Over time, I’ve realised that true hospitality excellence comes when every team functions in harmony.
If I could go back, I’d build stronger cross-departmental relationships from the start—it’s key to seamless service and elevated guest experiences.
What defines your management style?
Collaborative, flexible, and fun.
I lead by example and love creating a positive, energetic environment where people feel empowered to contribute. I keep things light-hearted but focused—because when a team is motivated and supported, great service comes naturally.
Being approachable, transparent, and present—especially when it’s busy—is fundamental to how I lead.
What are your strategic goals and vision for the hotel?
My vision focuses on three pillars: exceptional guest experience, operational efficiency, and sustainability.
We’re continually refining our offerings and personalising service to meet evolving guest needs. Operationally, we’re streamlining processes to ensure seamless service delivery while upholding Hyatt’s global standards.
Sustainability is a major priority. From waste reduction and eco-conscious sourcing to energy-efficient operations, we’re leading by example—appealing to the values of today’s conscious traveller and building long-term value.
Ultimately, I want Hyatt Place London City East to be recognised as one of London’s top boutique hotels—not just for our amenities, but for the experience and culture we deliver.
What advice would you give to someone starting out?
Be patient and stay curious.
Take time to understand how each department works—hotels are like finely tuned watches, and every cog plays a role. The more you learn about the full operation, the more valuable you become.
Ask questions, build relationships, and embrace challenges. Hospitality is full of surprises, but if you stay flexible, think clearly, and lead with empathy, you’ll grow faster than you think.
