San Antonio’s hospitality scene is preparing for a major addition with the arrival of The Monarch San Antonio, Curio Collection by Hilton, which will open its doors in March 2026.

Developed by Zachry Hotels, the property promises to bring a new standard of luxury to the heart of downtown, steps from the Henry B. González Convention Centre, the Riverwalk and just a block from the Alamo.

Conceived as more than just a place to stay, The Monarch has been designed as a curated environment where contemporary architecture and local culture meet. The hotel will feature 200 guest rooms and 28 suites, each incorporating regional art, bespoke interiors and immersive sensory elements to create a distinctive guest experience.

Guests will be able to choose from five dining venues, including a rooftop restaurant and a speakeasy, as well as a rooftop pool and spa. Wellness offerings are set to go beyond the usual hotel fitness centre, with IV therapy, contrast therapy and infrared saunas among the experiences on offer.

The Monarch is also positioning itself as a venue for corporate events and milestone celebrations. At its centre will be the striking La Mariposa Pavilion, an open-air courtyard installation inspired by the butterfly, designed to host receptions and creative activations.

Complementing this will be more than 15,000 square feet of meeting and event space, including a 5,000-square-foot ballroom and eight breakout rooms, catering for everything from executive retreats to product launches.

Every aspect of the hotel, from its architecture to its culinary philosophy, has been created to reflect San Antonio’s heritage while delivering a modern luxury experience.

General Manager Richard Slutter said the opening would mark a new chapter for the city: “Come enjoy a rare kind of luxury, where impeccable service anticipates your every need, culinary excellence delights at every encounter, and each experience is meticulously crafted for those who appreciate exclusive, memorable moments.”

With its mix of cultural resonance, design innovation and wellness-focused luxury, The Monarch San Antonio aims to become one of the city’s landmark destinations for both travellers and locals.
