AX Hotels, a leading Maltese hospitality company, has officially opened Verdala Wellness Hotel, the newest addition to its premium AX Privilege Collection and Malta’s first fully integrated wellness retreat.
Carved into the ridge overlooking Rabat’s valleys, the adults-only sanctuary combines refined design with a science-backed approach to holistic wellbeing.
At the heart of Verdala is a five-pillar wellness framework – Nutrition, Movement, Rest & Recovery, Emotional Wellbeing, and Connection – led by Head of Wellness Amber Gauci Ward. Guests can immerse themselves in Signature Retreats, which combine cultural experiences with wellness rituals, or Seasonal Retreats aligned to Malta’s festas and traditions. Alternatively, individual stays can be enhanced with optional consultations, therapies, and classes.
V SPA, the hotel’s dedicated 1,500 sqm wellness hub, brings Verdala’s philosophy to life with seven treatment rooms, a hammam and steam room, salt cave, saunas, hydrotherapy pool, restorative lounges, and spaces for meditation and movement. Treatments range from holistic therapies to technology-led options such as PEMF Therapy and DermaLux LED, curated in partnership with leading wellness brands including GROUND, Seed to Skin and Preime.
The hotel features 46 thoughtfully designed rooms and suites, each created for restorative sleep and relaxation with wellness minibars, vegan amenities, yoga mats, and calming natural materials. The flagship Observatory Suite offers a private terrace with hot tub, hammock and sweeping views over the valley.
Dining at Verdala is led by Chef Victor Borg, renowned for Michelin-starred Under Grain, and Head Chef Brady Dalli. Menus are rooted in anti-inflammatory principles and seasonality, using locally sourced ingredients across three venues: The Griffin Brasserie, The Ridge Pool Bar, and The Living Room Lounge.
