Ryanair, Europe’s leading airline, has announced that it will officially transition to 100% digital boarding passes from Wednesday 12 November 2025, shifting the rollout from its previously planned date of Monday 3 November.
The move is designed to ensure a smooth switchover during a quieter travel period, following the busy mid-term break.
From 12 November, passengers will no longer be able to download or print physical boarding passes. Instead, all travellers must use the digital boarding pass generated via the “myRyanair” app during check-in to board their flight. The change marks a significant milestone in Ryanair’s ongoing digital transformation strategy, aimed at streamlining the customer journey and enhancing operational efficiency.
The airline has already introduced several app-based features to improve the travel experience for its 206 million+ annual passengers, including:
- Order to Seat – allowing passengers to order food and drinks via their phone and receive priority service.
- Live Flight Information – providing real-time updates on boarding, gate changes and delays.
- Direct Disruption Updates – delivering instant notifications from Ryanair’s Operations Centre during travel disruptions.
With nearly 80% of Ryanair passengers already using digital boarding passes, the shift aligns with broader trends across ticketed industries such as live events and festivals, where digital-only access has become the norm.
Commenting on the announcement, Ryanair’s Chief Marketing Officer Dara Brady said:
“To ensure a seamless transition to 100% digital boarding passes for our customers, we will make the switch from Wednesday 12 November, which is traditionally a slightly quieter time for travel following the busy mid-term break period. Ryanair’s move to 100% digital boarding passes will mean a faster, smarter, and greener travel experience for our customers, streamlined through our best-in-class ‘myRyanair’ app.”
Business travellers are encouraged to update their app and familiarise themselves with the new boarding process ahead of the November launch. The airline’s digital-first approach continues to set the pace for innovation in European aviation.
