Malaysia is set to be the number one destination for Brits taking an Easter trip in 2026, with bookings up 275% when compared to the same booking period of May-August last year.

That’s according to new data from booking agent Away Holidays, which has compared bookings made for Easter 2025 to those for Easter 2026 to find the locations lined up to be holiday hotspots.

Whilst Malaysia may have seen the largest increase, locations including Doha, Singapore, and Abu Dhabi have also seen large increases, each offering unique attractions that blend culture, luxury and adventure that differ from those found in Europe.

Malaysia – Bookings up 275%

While not traditionally known as a mainstream family holiday hotspot, Malaysia is seeing a staggering 275% surge in bookings for Easter 2026. Gianni Leone, Senior Product Director at Away Holidays, explains, “Though Malaysia might not immediately spring to mind as a typical family destination, it’s rapidly growing in appeal for parents and kids alike. Resorts in Langkawi and Borneo combine wildlife adventures, like orangutan encounters and jungle explorations, with family-friendly pools and tours. It offers a mix of relaxation and hands-on learning that appeals to families seeking something different but accessible.”

Doha – Bookings up 130%

Doha’s Easter bookings have more than doubled, up 130%, as families seek destinations beyond the usual European resorts. “Doha is increasingly on the family radar due to its innovative attractions and immersive cultural experiences,” says Gianni. “The National Museum of Qatar offers engaging, child-friendly exhibits that make learning fun for all ages. Combined with beachfront promenades and desert safaris, it’s becoming a destination where parents and children can share memorable adventures in a safe, modern environment.”

Abu Dhabi – Bookings up 77%

With a 77% rise in bookings, Abu Dhabi is proving itself an alternative family destination to Dubai’s well-trodden path. Gianni comments, “Abu Dhabi offers families world-class entertainment options such as Yas Island’s theme parks and the stunning Saadiyat Island, featuring beautiful beaches and wildlife parks.”

Dubai – Bookings up 38%

Long established as a family favourite, Dubai remains a top choice with a 38% increase in Easter bookings. “Dubai continues to lead as a family destination due to its variety of resorts featuring kids’ clubs, waterparks, and child-centric activities. Parents appreciate how the city balances luxury, entertainment, and comfort, while children enjoy endless opportunities for fun and adventure,” Gianni says.

Singapore – Bookings up 33%

Singapore’s family bookings have climbed 33%, attracting parents with its blend of cool architecture and green spaces. “Singapore is a compact, safe city that’s easy to navigate with children,” says Gianni. “From the futuristic Gardens by the Bay to Sentosa Island’s theme parks and aquariums, the city combines education, play, and convenience- perfect for families looking for a dynamic, hassle-free holiday.”

Gianni reflects on the findings, saying, “These surging bookings prove travellers are expanding their horizons beyond traditional holiday spots. Destinations like Malaysia, Doha, and Abu Dhabi might not be the obvious family pick, but they offer a compelling blend of discovery, culture, and world-class amenities tailored to the whole family’s needs. Easter 2026 is shaping up to be all about new experiences that bring parents and children closer together.”
