Set on a quiet hillside between San Roque and La Línea de la Concepción, Fairmont La Hacienda Costa del Sol is a bold new chapter in Andalusian hospitality.

Opened in early 2025 and now owned by ActivumSG following its acquisition from Millenium Hospitality Real Estate, the resort is Fairmont’s first Spanish outpost, an ambitious blend of coastal serenity, contemporary elegance, and regional soul.

The property spans 311 rooms, suites, and 47 private villas, each designed with a calming palette of cream tones, light wood, and organic textures. Interiors by daar Arquitectura channel the whitewashed charm of Andalusian villages, with jute textiles, rattan accents, and locally crafted ceramics. Bathrooms feature marble finishes, walk-in showers, and Le Labo’s Rose 31 amenities – highly pinchable, as one guest put it. Villas offer private pools, kitchens, and terraces with views stretching to Gibraltar and, on clear days, the Moroccan coast.

Dining is a highlight. El Faro serves seasonal Andalusian dishes with Mediterranean flair, while Dalmar offers aged meats and show cooking in a moody, firelit setting. Umbra, the poolside venue, delivers breezy seafood plates under cane reed ceilings. The beach club, perched on La Alcaidesa’s four-kilometre stretch of sand, turns lively at sunset with DJs and espeto grilled over firewood boats.

Wellness is woven into the experience. The 1,800-square-metre spa offers panoramic views, hydrotherapy pools, a hammam, and treatments by 111SKIN and Bastien Gonzalez. Four pools – indoor, heated, infinity, and family-friendly dot the resort, while the fitness centre and yoga space cater to active guests.

Golf lovers will find paradise here. The resort borders two championship courses, including La Hacienda Links Golf, one of Spain’s most scenic coastal layouts. For families, there’s a Kids Club and Teens Club with educational and tech-driven activities.

Events are elegantly handled. The La Hacienda Ballroom spans 515 square metres and hosts up to 240 guests, with additional outdoor venues for weddings and corporate retreats. Fairmont’s signature service and culinary finesse elevate every gathering.

Guests range from international families and couples to business groups and wellness seekers. High season runs spring through autumn, though Andalusia’s mild winters make it a year-round draw.

Does it have the best view on the Costa del Sol? Quite possibly. From the lobby’s floor-to-ceiling windows to villa terraces, the Mediterranean unfurls in cinematic splendour – framed by mountains, sea, and the silhouette of Gibraltar.
