Located on the outskirts of the charming town of Marlow, Crowne Plaza Marlow provides a peaceful haven for business travellers.
Boasting 168 newly renovated rooms, the hotel melds contemporary amenities with a tranquil lakeside location, presenting an optimal blend of comfort and convenience for its guests.
Upon arrival, the hotel’s contemporary design immediately catches your eye, even if the colour scheme wasn’t to my liking. The property has clearly benefited from a recent multi-million-pound refurbishment, which is apparent from the sleek lobby to the stylishly decorated rooms.
Our booking was for a spa weekend and greeted at the front desk by Karim. The check-in process was seamless. His enthusiasm for the hotel shone through as he assisted with dinner reservations, explained the leisure facilities and their schedules, and demonstrated extensive knowledge of the local area. He was exactly the kind of person you’d want welcoming guests.
We received an upgrade to a club room, which featured a comfortable queen-size bed, luxurious pillows, blackout curtains, and a spacious bathroom with a bath and a separate shower cubicle. Large dispensers of body wash, shampoo, and conditioner were provided, replacing single-use toiletries. The décor was modern, characterized by a very neutral colour palette, with bursts of colour coming from abstract prints and patterned carpets.
Equipped with all the essentials required by a business traveller, the room includes a spacious desk with abundant lighting, USB charging points, and a 49” Samsung HDDX TV with streaming capabilities, complemented by complimentary high-speed Wi-Fi. Quiet-mode Daykin air conditioning units ensure comfort, while Bluetooth Door Key Access enhances security. Additional amenities include tea and coffee making facilities, as well as slippers and bathrobes.
The hotel’s leisure facilities include an 18-yard swimming pool, an indoor hot tub, a sauna, and a steam room. A fully equipped gym is available, and the changing rooms provide toiletries and hair dryers. There are also separate treatment rooms that offer all the standard services expected. The leisure facility is open to members, so it’s advisable to be mindful of peak times when the facilities may be busier.
The Aqua Bar & Conservatory is an ideal spot for relaxing with a drink, featuring an outdoor terrace with views of the lake. Additionally, a spacious conservatory adjoins both the bar and restaurant, providing a pleasant setting for drinks or breakfast. The Glaze Restaurant, which has earned an AA Rosette, serves a seasonal menu blending British and Indian cuisine. Our spa break included a three-course meal, and we appreciated the flexibility to combine items from different menus. The quality of the food was impressive, and the staff meticulously explained the spiciness levels of each dish.
The breakfast offered a buffet style selection, but there was also a menu available for ordering special dishes. The variety was extensive, featuring freshly prepared items that weren’t greasy, clearly labelled for allergens, and included a substantial range of gluten-free options.
Our stay was delightful, and I must praise the entire staff for their unwavering cheerfulness and helpfulness. Furthermore, the cleanliness of the hotel was remarkable. Kudos to the housekeeping team; despite my thorough search, I couldn’t find a speck of dirt or dust in our room to complain about.
The Crowne Plaza Marlow epitomizes a harmonious mix of comfort, convenience, and luxury. Its tranquil setting, along with first-class amenities and meticulous service, renders it an outstanding selection for business travellers and individuals in search of event and meeting room spaces who wish to optimize their experience in Marlow.
