Hôtel Martinez has become the first hotel in Cannes to receive the prestigious “Palace de France” distinction, the highest honour in the French hospitality industry.

The government‑recognised title places the historic Croisette landmark among an elite group of properties worldwide, and marks the first time in seven years that a new hotel in France has been awarded the accolade.

An icon since 1929, the Art Deco property has undergone a multi‑year transformation that blends its heritage with a contemporary approach to luxury. The “Palace de France” designation recognises hotels that demonstrate exceptional service, architectural character and a level of excellence that exceeds traditional five‑star standards.

The award reflects the Martinez’s continued investment in its guest experience, from the Michelin‑starred La Palme d’Or to its landscaped gardens, spa and elevated service culture.

General Manager Michel Cottray said the distinction is “the ultimate recognition of our team’s consistent efforts over many years,” adding that the hotel is honoured to bring the Palace title to Cannes for the first time.

With this new status, Hôtel Martinez further cements its position as one of the Riviera’s most celebrated luxury hotels and now one of France’s most distinguished.
