As an official partner of the Paris 2024 Olympic and Paralympic Games, Air France has named its newest long-haul aircraft ‘Paris’, honouring the host city of the 33rd Olympiad.

Fresh off the assembly lines in Toulouse, this state-of-the-art aircraft, registered as F-HUVJ, proudly bears the name Paris and the official logo of the Paris 2024 Olympic and Paralympic Games on its front fuselage. The aircraft has joined Air France’s hub at Paris-Charles de Gaulle and is set to embark on its first commercial flight to Hong Kong.

Since 2019, Air France has reinstated its tradition of naming aircraft after French cities, promoting France’s regions globally. Following the names of Lyon, Saint-Denis de la Réunion, and Grasse, ‘Paris’ is the latest addition to the fleet. By naming this aircraft Paris, Air France pays tribute to the French capital, which serves as its primary base and leading destination.

With a fleet of 256 aircraft, Air France operates nearly 1,000 flights daily from Paris-Charles de Gaulle and Paris-Orly to almost 200 destinations worldwide. The airline stands as the leading private employer in the Paris region.

Air France’s decision to name this aircraft just days before the Paris 2024 Games opening ceremony reflects the pride shared by the company’s 39,000 employees who have contributed to organising this historic event. During the Games, Air France plans to transport over one in five athletes.

In 2016, Air France had already shown its support for Paris’s bid to host the 2024 Olympic and Paralympic Games by decorating its aircraft with the bid’s logo, featuring a stylised Eiffel Tower and the number 24.

The new-generation aircraft named Paris meets the highest industry standards, incorporating the latest technological innovations. It boasts 48 Business seats, 32 Premium Economy seats, and 212 Economy seats, serving destinations across Air France’s extensive long-haul network, including New York, Santiago de Chile, Hong Kong, and Antananarivo (Madagascar).

This aircraft is part of a family of new-generation long-haul planes, offering improved economic and environmental performance. It achieves a 25% reduction in CO2 emissions compared to previous-generation aircraft and reduces its noise footprint by 40%.

Air France’s continued dedication to innovation and sustainability is exemplified by the introduction of this latest aircraft, symbolising a significant step towards greener air travel and a nod to the airline’s commitment to excellence as it celebrates the upcoming Paris 2024 Olympic and Paralympic Games.
