Beginning in September, Alaska Airlines will introduce additional First Class and Premium Class seats across over 200 aircraft, including the 900ERs, 800s, and MAX9s. This enhancement will contribute an extra 1.3 million premium seats per year to the mainline fleet.

By increasing the number of seats available in these classes, will make it easier than ever for  guests to upgrade while also meeting the growing demand for premium seating.

First Class

In collaboration with RECARO, the enhanced offerings now provide passengers with the utmost comfort. The newly installed First Class seats on the 737-800 fleet will maintain their status as having the most legroom, and feature additions such as a calf rest, a new seatback device holder, a 6-way adjustable headrest with neck support, and USB-C charging ports.

Premium Class & Main Cabin

In the Main Cabin and Premium Class of the 737-800 fleet, guests will continue to enjoy comfort and convenience with enhanced features at every seat. These improvements include new device holders with integrated cup holders, USB-C charging ports, and a 6-way adjustable headrest with dedicated neck support.

As the 737-900ER fleet undergoes modifications, Premium Class will expand by converting six Main Cabin seats. These aircraft will also receive an interior refresh, introducing modern amenities such as device holders in the main cabin, enhancing the core of our fleet. Similarly, all MAX9 aircraft, which are among the newest in the fleet, will have six extra seats upgraded to Premium Class, further elevating the comfort and luxury guests experience.

The increase in First Class and Premium Class seats is a direct response to the rising demand from valued passengers. Travellers are looking for the additional comfort and benefits offered by these classes, and Alaska Airlines is dedicated to fulfilling this need. Now, whether you’re traveling for business or pleasure, the option to upgrade your seat is more available than ever.

The introduction of extra premium seats will not affect the number of lavatories in their Boeing aircraft fleet, which will continue to have four available for passengers. This decision underscores their commitment to convenience and accessibility, ensuring that all passengers, no matter their seating class, have sufficient access to the lavatories.
