Celebrating its 25th anniversary in 2025, world-renowned wellness retreat Ananda in the Himalayas recently unveiled the latest additions to its luxury accommodations along with a series of stylish renovations to several of the property’s premier suites.

Deepa Sama, a Delhi-based designer, led the six-month project focusing on elevating the guest experience by bringing nature and the natural surroundings to the forefront for added peace and harmony. With the completion of their latest additions and renovations, the wellness retreat located on 100 acres of grounds and gardens in the Himalayan foothills now offers 64 rooms, 3 villas and 8 suites.
Debuting a brand-new room category, Ananda in the Himalayas invites guests to discover their Deluxe Suites, adding to the property’s portfolio of exceptional room types. Overlooking the serene Rishikesh valley or the regal Maharaja’s gardens, the two new Deluxe Suites offer a private balcony where guests can unwind and reflect amidst nature’s splendours. These two-bay suites offer a perfect blend of elegance, comfort, and breath taking views.
Inside, the suites have tastefully decorated bedrooms connected to elegant sitting rooms reflective of Ananda’s commitment to understated, yet timeless luxury. The bathrooms in the Deluxe Suites feature spacious layouts with life-size mirrors, splendid bathtubs, and windows that frame the stunning garden or valley vistas. Each suite has two fully appointed bathrooms offering the space and privacy for guests traveling with another. Additionally, the new Garden Suite offers a secluded garden adding to the charm and privacy of the suite with an outdoor deck with a chaise-lounge and tea table for complete relaxation.
The redesign project also included refurbishments to the property’s Ananda Suite and Viceregal Suite. Housed on the ground floor and overlooking the valley, the three-bay Ananda Suite has a large private garden with gazebo seating ideal for moments of reflection in the outdoors. Located in the precincts of the Maharaja’s Palace, the historic Viceregal Suite boasts its own private terrace with a rooftop gazebo overlooking the landscaped gardens and the distant Ganga Valley. The sophisticated enhancements to these regal suites bring guests closer to nature by accentuating the fluidity of indoor-outdoor living.
Aashica Khanna, Director of Ananda in the Himalayas, said: “At Ananda, we are deeply committed to a design philosophy that harmonizes each space with the natural beauty of our surroundings, creating an immersive experience that brings guests closer to a sense of inner peace and renewal. In response to a growing desire among our guests for more spacious accommodations, we reimagined our guest rooms into three luxurious new suites- two spacious two-bay Deluxe Suites and a new Garden Suite. At the same time, we renovated our timeless Ananda and Viceregal suites. These enhancements reflect our dedication to providing not just a stay, but a sanctuary for the soul in the heart of the Himalayas.”
Ananda completed an extensive property-wide renovation in June of 2022 with the culmination of a three-year redesign project focusing on the renovation of the villas, restaurant, and spa. Since then, they have added a new culinary show kitchen along with launching several new wellness programs dedicated to addressing issues of hormonal health, sleep enhancement, fertility, and more.
The globally acclaimed retreat continues to be at the forefront of wellness using time-tested traditional sciences like Ayurveda, TCM, yoga, and meditation. Ananda has positioned itself as a positive force for good in the world of travel, offering a sanctuary where guests can reconnect with themselves, heal from emotional and physical challenges, and restore their sense of purpose. This holistic approach offers a pathway for guests to achieve long-term health, emotional balance, and spiritual peace. The combination of personalized care, ancient practices, and deep research into traditional wellness systems results in life-changing experiences. By setting the benchmark for wellness tourism, Ananda has made travel not only a means of rejuvenation but a supportive path towards personal and societal well-being.
