Austria’s leading hospitality brand, Falkensteiner Michaeler Tourism Group (FMTG), is preparing to ramp up its presence in the UK market in 2025 as part of a wider €400 million investment strategy across Europe.
The announcement follows a strong year for the group, which reported €264 million in turnover for 2024, up 11.1% year-on-year, with over two million overnight stays, an increase of 7.8%. The group operates 30 hotels and two campsites across seven European countries, with significant growth planned in key destinations favoured by British holidaymakers.
Speaking at a press conference in Milan last week, Otmar Michaeler, CEO of FMTG, confirmed that the company’s future strategy includes building brand awareness among UK travellers while continuing to invest in core markets such as Austria, Germany, Italy, and Croatia.
“We are keen to build awareness of the Falkensteiner brand in the UK market,” Michaeler said. “That’s where our guests already know us, that’s where we are strong – that’s where we invest.”
To support this push, FMTG has appointed UK trade sales representative Nunzio Giannone of Luxury Boutique Collections and launched a UK-focused PR campaign. Activities include press trips, fam trips, presence at WTM, and engagement with key UK-based industry events and media.
Falkensteiner is already well known in German-speaking markets for its “effortless, feel-good luxury”, and is now positioning itself as a premium European hospitality option for British travellers seeking authentic, well-designed, experience-led stays.
Founded in 1957 in South Tyrol, the group formally established its umbrella organisation in 1995, combining hotel management, development, strategic consulting, and digital investment platforms under one brand. FMTG will also unveil a new camping brand later this year, backed by a strategic investor.
