Bern has been ranked the safest city globally for female business travellers, topping a new study by travel management company Good Travel Management.

Scoring a normalised total of 9.04 out of 10, the Swiss capital edged out Wellington (8.11), Amsterdam (7.86), and Stockholm (7.63) in the TMC’s comprehensive analysis.

To compile the rankings, researchers assessed several categories, including the pay gap parity between men and women, overall safety indicators for women, female workforce participation rates, the quantity of well-reviewed hotels, and average satisfaction scores for co-working spaces and taxi services. Vienna (7.45), Berlin (7.36), and Madrid (7.33) took the next spots, followed by Oslo (7.16), Paris (7.14), and Canberra (7.08). London, meanwhile, came in with a score of 6.62.

Laura Busby, commercial director at Good Travel Management, described women’s safety as “often an overlooked aspect of business travel”, warning that the wellbeing and performance of female professionals could be compromised unless it is addressed thoroughly. “Partnering with a travel management company ensures trips are planned with safety and inclusivity at their core,” Busby added, highlighting the importance of robust policies to support both employees and employers.
