British Airways (BA) has reversed its decision to cancel direct flights between London and Bahrain following significant international backlash and concerns over diplomatic relations.

Within hours of easyJet announcing its new no-frills route from London Luton to Tbilisi, British Airways has responded with twice as many flights from London Heathrow to the Georgian capital and offering Business Class on the midnight plane to Georgia.

BA will commence its service on 30 March 2025, two days ahead of easyJet, offering flights on Tuesdays, Saturdays, Sundays, and Thursdays.

Both airlines will operate Airbus A320 aircraft on the route. However, while easyJet offers a single-class service, BA will provide a business class option for the five-hour-plus overnight journey.

The premium cabin is expected to be popular with connecting travellers. Airline analyst Sean Moulton said: “British Airways will connect the city to and from the US, helping to boost loads and increase prosperity for the region.” There are also a significant number of Russians with business interests in Georgia and London.
