British Airways CEO Sean Doyle’s multi-billion-pound strategy is reshaping the UK’s flagship airline for premium growth, for fliers and investors alike

British Airways is set to expand its transatlantic network with the launch of a new direct service from London Heathrow to St. Louis, Missouri, beginning 19 April 2026.

The route — which will make BA the only UK airline offering direct flights to St. Louis — will operate four times per week during the summer season, with departures on Tuesdays, Wednesdays, Fridays and Sundays.

The flights will be operated using aircraft configured with three cabins: World Traveller (economy), World Traveller Plus (premium economy) and Club World (business class).

Announcing the new route, Neil Chernoff, British Airways’ chief planning and strategy officer, said: “As the only direct route from the UK, this service will open up exciting new opportunities for our customers and further strengthen ties between the UK and the US Midwest.”

The new connection to St. Louis — a key hub for advanced manufacturing, healthcare and financial services — is part of BA’s broader strategy to bolster trade and tourism links between the UK and the United States.

It will also mark British Airways’ 27th US destination, reinforcing the airline’s position as the leading transatlantic carrier from London Heathrow.

Summer 2026: expanded US schedule

Alongside the St. Louis launch, British Airways will reintroduce its double-daily service to Miami and resume daily flights to Dallas–Fort Worth for the summer 2026 season.

Other key transatlantic increases include:
Las Vegas: 10 to 13 flights per week
• San Diego and Austin: rising to 14 flights per week each
• New York (JFK): nine daily flights, including one operated by BA’s Boeing 777-200 fleet featuring the airline’s First and Club Suite cabins

The expansion underscores BA’s confidence in the resurgence of transatlantic demand, particularly for premium and business travel, following several years of strong recovery in the US market.

It also reflects continued investment in North American connectivity, with British Airways aiming to enhance frequency, flexibility and route diversity ahead of anticipated global aviation growth through 2026.

With the new St. Louis service, BA further consolidates its role as a bridge between the UK and the US heartland, deepening commercial and cultural ties between two of the world’s largest aviation markets.
