British Airways has signed a new codeshare agreement with Canadian carrier Porter Airlines, handing its customers direct, single-ticket access to 17 domestic destinations across Canada and significantly widening the reach of its transatlantic network.

Announced on 24 June, the deal lets British Airways customers book flights to cities including Ottawa, Edmonton and Winnipeg, connecting from the wider British Airways network when travelling to or from London via Toronto or Montreal. The 17 Porter-served destinations will now appear under a BA code on ba.com, meaning travellers can secure the long-haul and the onward domestic leg in a single transaction.

For business travellers, the convenience is the headline. Rather than booking a separate Canadian sector and risking disconnected itineraries, customers can now reach destinations from the harbour city of Victoria on the Pacific coast to the historic port of St John’s on the Atlantic in one go, with the protection that comes from travelling on a through-ticket.

There is a loyalty sweetener too. Members of the British Airways Club will earn Avios and tier points when flying on Porter Airlines services, adding another route to status and rewards for frequent flyers already collecting across the IAG Loyalty ecosystem.

Porter Airlines, headquartered in Toronto, flies to more than 40 destinations across North America, Central America and the Caribbean, and brings two decades of award-winning service to the partnership. The carrier is known for its ‘Elevated Economy’ product, which includes complimentary drinks served in real glassware, premium snacks, a two-by-two seating layout that does away with the middle seat, and free, fast-streaming Wi-Fi, a proposition likely to appeal to corporate travellers used to a no-frills domestic experience.

Neil Chernoff, Chief Planning and Strategy Officer at British Airways, said: “We are delighted to launch this codeshare with Porter Airlines, meaning British Airways customers can now book flights on Porter Airlines’ network with convenience and ease. This agreement makes travel between London and Canada even easier, offering more options and flexibility. We look forward to working closely with Porter Airlines and further strengthening our partnership.”

Edmond Eldebs, Senior Vice President and Chief Commercial Officer at Porter Airlines, said: “It is our pleasure to welcome British Airways customers to the Porter experience. This codeshare agreement reflects our shared commitment to making travel seamless and enjoyable. More travellers have the opportunity to discover more of Canada the Porter way, with elevated service and comfort that we’re known for. We look forward to a strong and growing partnership.”

The agreement is the latest in a wave of codeshare tie-ups reshaping how carriers stitch together their networks, echoing recent moves such as the ITA Airways and United Airlines codeshare. It also lands as British Airways continues to expand its long-haul map, following its major winter 2026 schedule growth.

Full details of the partnership are set out in the British Airways media centre, while route and product information is available via Porter Airlines.

Codeshare flights with Porter Airlines are available to book now at ba.com, for travel from 8 July.
