Delta Air Lines has announced a new partnership with rideshare leader Uber, offering SkyMiles members the chance to earn miles on select Uber rides, as well as restaurant and grocery deliveries.
Beginning this spring, SkyMiles members can earn one mile for every dollar spent on UberX rides to and from airports, two miles per dollar on premium rides such as Uber Comfort and Uber Black, and three miles per dollar on Uber Reserve services. Furthermore, members will receive one mile per dollar spent on eligible Uber Eats orders worth at least $40 for restaurant or grocery purchases.
With the launch of this partnership, Uber will become Delta’s exclusive rideshare and delivery partner in the US, effectively replacing the airline’s existing agreement with Lyft, which dates back to 2017. Customers can register on the waitlist to be among the first to link their accounts, granting access to “special waitlist exclusives” once the programme goes live. Delta says it will share more details, including the official start date, in the coming weeks.
Ed Bastian, CEO of Delta, commented: “Delta is thrilled to come together with Uber to create a connected travel experience from start to finish. This partnership creates more choice for customers to get to their destination in a way that works best for them.”
Uber is also rolling out upgrades to its app that will encourage more sustainable travel choices as part of its goal to become a zero-emissions platform by 2040.
