Emirates has announced the integration of approximately 3.3 million litres of blended sustainable aviation fuel (SAF) into the fuelling system at Singapore’s Changi Airport.
This development follows the airline’s recent agreements with Neste to supply SAF in Amsterdam and London.
The airline stated that it is meticulously tracking the delivery of SAF into fuelling systems, ensuring the environmental benefits are accurately accounted for and assigned using widely accepted industry methodologies.
Adel Al Redha, Emirates’ Deputy President and COO, commented on the milestone: “While the activation of this agreement marks a significant step in our SAF journey in a new region, there’s still a lot of work to do. As we secure SAF for the short term, we are also focused on establishing long-term agreements to ensure a steady supply for our operations.”
Emirates becomes the second carrier, following Singapore Airlines, to utilise locally-produced SAF from Neste’s Singapore refinery.
Currently, Emirates operates flights with SAF from Amsterdam, London Heathrow, Paris, Lyon, and Oslo. Additionally, the airline entered into an agreement with Shell in late 2023 to incorporate SAF into the fuelling systems at its Dubai hub, further demonstrating its commitment to sustainable aviation practices.
