Hilton has opened the 485-room Hilton Istanbul Airport, marking the company’s 100th hotel in Türkiye and becoming the first internationally branded hotel positioned next to the airport grounds anywhere in the country.
For UK business travellers, the timing is significant. Istanbul Airport is now Europe’s busiest, handling more passengers than any rival on the continent, and it serves as the main connecting hub for Turkish Airlines flights between Britain and destinations across Asia, Africa and the Middle East. Until now, travellers facing an early departure, a late arrival or a long connection have had limited options within easy reach of the terminal. The design draws on Istanbul itself, taking cues from the city’s historic neighbourhoods, its modern skyline and the shifting colours of the Marmara Sea. Natural stone, warm metallic finishes and rich fabrics run throughout the interiors, an attempt to give a hotel beside one of the world’s busiest terminals a clear sense of place rather than the anonymous feel that airport properties often carry.
The opening comes amid Istanbul’s rise past Heathrow as Europe’s busiest airport, a shift that has made the hub an increasingly common fixture in UK corporate travel itineraries, whether as a destination in its own right or as a transfer point on longer routes east.
Dining, meetings and wellness
The property brings Hilton’s global dining brand OXBO to Türkiye for the first time. OXBO operates across three venues, a restaurant, a café and a 24-hour bar, with menus built around locally sourced ingredients. The round-the-clock bar will be a practical draw for travellers arriving off late flights or killing time before a red-eye departure.
For corporate events, the hotel offers eight meeting rooms and a grand ballroom seating 250 guests, giving companies a venue option that delegates can fly into and out of without ever needing a city transfer. That is a meaningful saving in a city where traffic between the airport and the centre can consume the better part of two hours at peak times.
Wellness facilities include an indoor pool, sauna and Turkish bath available during scheduled hours, a fitness centre accessible around the clock with room key cards, and a spa with three treatment rooms, two for individual sessions and one designed for couples.
Getting into the city
A metro station directly opposite the hotel connects guests to central Istanbul and landmarks including Hagia Sophia and the Blue Mosque, useful for travellers bolting a day of sightseeing or a downtown meeting onto a trip through the hub.
The opening continues a busy period for hotel development around the airport, following the arrival of the Garner Hotel Istanbul Airport Arnavutköy earlier in the cycle, and forms part of Hilton’s wider pipeline of openings across Europe, Africa and the Middle East.
