Andaz Mayakoba Resort Riviera Maya will undergo a transformative renovation and debut as the first Alila branded resort in Latin America and the Caribbean in late 2025, offering a luxury sanctuary that serves as a steward of the natural environment and local Mayan culture

Hyatt Hotels Corporation and RLH Properties announced the planned transformation and rebranding of Andaz Mayakoba Resort Riviera Maya to Alila Mayakoba, which will mark the Alila brand’s entry into Latin America and the Caribbean. Andaz Mayakoba Resort Riviera Maya is expected to suspend operations on March 2, 2025 and debut as Alila Mayakoba later this year. Alila is a luxury brand that has received substantial recognition for its place at the forefront of transformational travel. Hotels and resorts in the global brand portfolio are known for their awe-inspiring experiences that allow guests to create a sense of connection to self, place, local culture and community.

Sustainability and wellbeing sit at the forefront of the Alila brand ethos, and the new resort will be designed and renovated with minimal impact to the surrounding environment of Mayakoba’s lush and tropical jungles, while providing maximum impact on the physical, mental, and spiritual health and wellbeing of guests. Set amongst 148 acres of mangrove, protecting wildlife and biodiversity, the resort will take an eco-friendly renovation approach using locally sourced and reclaimed materials and operate under rigorous sustainable tenets once open.

Alila Mayakoba will offer a sanctuary where guests can connect with the indigenous natural environment in profound and immersive ways, and learn to honor and cherish the environment, much like ancient Mayans, creating space for themselves while nourishing the Earth in their own ways. The design of Alila Mayakoba will celebrate the distinct and secluded location of Mayakoba and honour its distinctive water canals and the ancient Mayan reverence for nature, which aligns seamlessly with the Alila brand’s commitment to environmental connection.

As part of the transition, the property will reduce the number of guestrooms and increase the suite count to 40% of the total inventory, offering wellness-focused accommodations with design and technology features aiming to improve guest wellbeing. The property will continue its commitment to wellbeing with elaborate indoor and outdoor wellness spaces, intentional programming led by experts and local healers, a renovated spa with outdoor communal hydrotherapy amenities, extensive gardens to be used in guest programming, and a new Temazcal, a traditional Mexican steam bath supporting therapeutic and spiritual wellbeing. The resort will offer a robust array of experiences that encourage guests to explore beyond the resort and discover the Mayan Riviera in a deep and transformative way.

Alila Mayakoba will be home to locally inspired food and beverage offerings, including a curated coffee shop, a three-meal restaurant with an on-site organic garden, two signature restaurants, a new lobby lounge serving artisanal cocktails using local ingredients, a beach-front restaurant and a new beach club. All culinary experiences will depict the Alila brand’s restorative, meaningful and honest approach to food and wine, deeply rooted in place and people with garden-to-table elements. Additionally, the hotel will open with refreshed indoor and outdoor meeting and events spaces ideal for special events and celebrations, or unforgettable weddings with impressive natural backdrops of the Caribbean Sea.

The hotel is offering guests and World of Hyatt members with existing reservations at Andaz Mayakoba Resort Riviera Maya for stays after March 2, 2025 until the hotel resumes operations, the option to relocate to other Hyatt properties or another hotel within the Mayakoba complex or cancel their stay with no penalty.
