Hyatt Hotels Corporation has reinforced its shift toward a more brand-focused structure with the appointment of Javier Águila as President, Inclusive Collection, from March.
Águila assumes this global all-inclusive leadership role in addition to his ongoing position as Group President for Europe, Africa and the Middle East (EAME).
Hyatt’s move to establish a dedicated leader for its all-inclusive business—which comprises around 55,000 rooms across 11 Inclusive Collection brands—underscores the company’s ambition to maximise growth in this burgeoning segment. The portfolio now includes the Bahia Principe Hotels & Resorts brand, brought into Hyatt’s fold last month through a 50/50 strategic joint venture with Grupo Piñero. Águila serves on the board of that venture.
The latest appointment follows Hyatt’s recent unveiling of five distinct brand portfolios—Lifestyle, Luxury, Inclusive, Classics and Essentials—and the formation of a dedicated Lifestyle group led by Amar Lalvani. Plans for a separate Luxury group will be announced later in 2025.
Mark Hoplamazian, President & CEO of Hyatt, highlights the significance of Águila’s expanded role: “Between his vast all-inclusive expertise and the growth momentum in the EAME region under his leadership, I am confident Javier will unlock the full potential of our Inclusive Collection. He exemplifies a growth mindset and has a wealth of ideas for innovation and performance improvement.”
Águila joined Hyatt through the company’s 2021 acquisition of Apple Leisure Group, which substantially expanded Hyatt’s presence in all-inclusive resorts. He will now oversee development, operations, branding, and commercial performance of the global all-inclusive business, working alongside regional and functional teams around the world to meet evolving guest preferences.
