One of the City of London’s most distinctive Art Deco landmarks is set for a major reinvention, with plans unveiled to convert Ibex House into a 382-room hotel tailored to the needs of modern business travellers.

The 1930s building, known for its sweeping curves and geometric façade, will be reimagined as a contemporary hospitality destination while retaining its architectural character. The redevelopment aims to preserve the structure’s heritage features while introducing flexible work, meeting and social spaces designed to support the evolving rhythms of business travel.

Located within the Square Mile, Ibex House occupies a prime position for corporate guests seeking proximity to financial institutions, professional services firms and major transport links. The proposed hotel will include a range of adaptable event rooms, collaborative lounges and food-and-drink venues intended to serve both daytime productivity and after-hours networking.

Developers say the scheme will strike a balance between heritage and functionality, creating a destination that appeals equally to visiting executives and local professionals.

A notable element of the project is a dedicated hospitality training hub planned for the ground floor. The facility will aim to support career development in the sector and help create a pipeline of local talent, aligning with the City’s broader strategy to strengthen its visitor economy and expand employment opportunities.

The hotel is currently targeting an opening date in 2028. If delivered as proposed, the transformation of Ibex House will add a substantial new hospitality asset to the Square Mile, combining period architecture with the practical demands of contemporary business travel.
