Often described as one of the major ski capitals of the world, Switzerland ranks in first place for the most annual snowfall, seeing an average of 258cm – nearly 8 and a half feet. Meaning that if you are looking for a snowy break, Switzerland should be at the top of your list.
According to Myswitzerland, the likes of Zermatt, Arosa Lenzerheide, and Davos Klosters all offer the perfect setting for a snowy ski holiday.
Following closely behind with 238cm of average annual snowfall, is France. Despite being geographically close to the UK, France experiences substantial amounts of snow every year. This is due to their mean elevation above sea level (375 metres) towering over 200m of that in the UK (162 metres). Similarly to Switzerland, this also makes France an ideal spot for skiing and all things winter weathered.
If France is the choice for you, the Independent revealed that locations such as Tignes, Chamonix, and Méribel all make idyllic locations for a snow filled getaway.
Austria closes out the top three with an average annual snowfall of 201cm, making the top three, the only European nations to boast over 200cm. Austria is historically one of the staple holiday destinations for those looking for wintery weather, with access to some of the best Ski locations in Europe.
As revealed by SunWeb, the likes of Solden, Zillertal, and the Ski Amadé all are great contenders for a snowy ski trip in 2025.
