New 179-room luxury hotel to open in 2028 within landmark mixed-use precinct
IHG Hotels & Resorts (IHG) announces a partnership with Gulf Province Properties Limited (GPPL), a subsidiary company of the Gulf Investment Trust Fund, to bring InterContinental, the world’s first and largest international luxury hotel brand, to Papua New Guinea (PNG).
Scheduled to open in late 2028, InterContinental Port Moresby will be the centrepiece of a landmark mixed-use development in the heart of the capital city’s diplomatic precinct and the seat of National Government.
The 179-room hotel will be located moments from the National Parliament House, the Supreme and National Court, Key Central Agencies of Government, and several foreign embassies – perfectly positioned to welcome visiting dignitaries, business travellers, and international guests.
InterContinental Port Moresby will offer a collection of exceptional facilities including an all-day dining restaurant, specialty restaurant, lobby lounge and pool bar, alongside more than 600 square metres of meeting and event space, a Club Lounge, fitness centre and outdoor pool. The wider development will also feature approx 6,000 square metres of office space, creating a new commercial and social hub for the city.
