Italian boutique airline, SkyAlps, expands its winter route from London Gatwick to Bolzano, bringing the Dolomites closer than ever to the UK market.

From 18th December 2024, the London Gatwick – Bolzano winter route will operate three times a week, on Wednesdays, Saturdays and Sundays, increasing from its current twice-weekly schedule, with prices from €184 each way including 15kg luggage and high-quality South Tyrolean complimentary food and drink on board.

Founded in 2021, SkyAlps now connects over 20 European cities with direct flights and is officially Italy’s fifth airline, first launching its London-Bolzano route in December 2023, operating twice weekly, on Wednesdays and Saturdays. Bolzano is a small, quick and efficient airport with very little queues, if any, and cuts some transfer times from other airports, such as Innsbruck or Venice, nearly in half.

Sustainability has been part of SkyAlps’ DNA since its foundation and in keeping with its parent company’s green credentials, SkyAlps operate using the modern and quiet De Havilland Dash Q400 aircraft. This aircraft seats 76 passengers and offers one of the greenest passenger eco-footprints. The aircraft is an extremely fast turboprop-powered plane that can complete short journeys almost as quickly as a regional turbojet, but with lower CO2 emissions.

For SkyAlps, the journey is as important as the destination, with South Tyrolean wines and local treats on board, a closer look at the Dolomites at lower altitudes and guaranteed no middle seats.

Bolzano and beyond

Bolzano is the perfect base from which to reach the Dolomites, a city located in the northern most region in Italy and one of the lesser-known destinations, Bolzano offers nature, culture, vineyards and delicious cuisine.
