Jet2, the popular airline and tour operator, has announced plans to establish a significant presence at Bournemouth Airport starting from April 2025.
The expansion will see Jet2 offering 16 new routes to popular tourist destinations in Turkey, Spain, Portugal, and Greece. These routes will include flights to destinations like Tenerife, Ibiza, Alicante, and more.
Two aircraft will be based at Bournemouth Airport, operating up to 27 weekly flights during the summer months. The move comes as Bournemouth Airport anticipates its highest passenger figures since 2008 and invests over £5 million in new facilities and staff to accommodate the expected increase in passengers.
Jet2’s expansion at Bournemouth Airport is expected to create at least 100 new jobs across various roles including flight deck, cabin crew, engineering, and ground operations.
This move aligns with Jet2’s strategy to become the UK’s leading leisure travel business and reflects its commitment to providing award-winning flights and holidays.
Steve Heapy, CEO of Jet2.com and Jet2holidays, expressed excitement about the expansion, stating that Bournemouth Airport will become Jet2’s 12th UK base airport. He emphasized the company’s dedication to providing exceptional customer experiences and highlighted the investment being made in the region, including the creation of new jobs.
In addition to the expansion by Jet2, Bournemouth Airport is undergoing updates including an upgraded security search area and a new information desk to enhance the overall passenger experience.
