The Lufthansa Group plans to significantly boost its workforce in 2025 by recruiting around 10,000 people across a broad range of roles.
The German airline conglomerate, which includes Austrian Airlines, Swiss, Brussels Airlines and Eurowings, aims to fill more than 2,000 flight attendant positions, around 800 pilot roles, over 1,400 ground staff vacancies and approximately 1,300 technical expert posts.
In addition, more than 2,000 of the new positions will be based at the group’s aircraft maintenance arm, Lufthansa Technik. A further 1,200 roles will be administrative across the Lufthansa Group. More than half of the overall vacancies are expected to be filled in Germany.
Austrian Airlines and Eurowings are each targeting around 700 new staff. Meanwhile, Lufthansa Airlines itself, which reported an H1 loss of €265 million in 2024, will adopt a more measured recruitment drive by hiring around 1,200 new employees over the next twelve months, mainly focused on operational roles.
Michael Niggemann, a member of Deutsche Lufthansa AG’s executive board responsible for human resources and legal affairs, said: “The Lufthansa Group is and remains an attractive employer with many different job profiles and career options. Last year alone, we received 350,000 applications across the group and recruited over 13,000 employees. We look forward to welcoming every new colleague.
