Mandarin Oriental Hotel Group will mark its debut in Austria with the opening of Mandarin Oriental, Vienna on 20 October 2025, bringing its signature blend of understated luxury and world-class service to the country’s capital.

Located in Vienna’s prestigious First District on Riemergasse, the new hotel occupies a heritage-listed Art Nouveau building that was once a courthouse. Originally designed by Alfred Keller and completed in 1908, the property has been meticulously restored to preserve its historic character while introducing contemporary design and comfort.

The hotel features 138 rooms and suites, including three Mandarin Signature Suites and a grand Royal Suite. Interiors have been designed to balance Viennese Art Nouveau style with modern sophistication, creating light-filled spaces defined by elegant lines, refined materials and a warm, understated ambience.

General Manager Mario Habicher said the aim was to create a retreat for international travellers and a meeting place for locals: “The historic Art Nouveau building in Riemergasse provides the ideal setting for this.”

Events and dining experiences

Mandarin Oriental, Vienna will also offer extensive event, meeting facilities and a travel guide in Vienna, including seven multifunctional boardrooms and a 140-sqm ballroom, designed to host everything from business meetings to special occasions with a distinct Viennese touch.

The hotel’s culinary offering has been crafted under the leadership of Executive Chef Thomas Seifried, introducing four distinct dining concepts. At the heart of the experience is Atelier 7, a new restaurant concept set to bring contemporary flair to Vienna’s dining scene.

Wellness and relaxation

At the heart of the property lies The Spa at Mandarin Oriental, which combines the group’s signature holistic therapies with treatments inspired by local traditions. The spa includes seven treatment rooms, a couple’s suite, a VIP treatment area, and a spacious indoor pool alongside a state-of-the-art fitness centre.

Strengthening Vienna’s global hospitality offering

With its blend of historic architecture, contemporary luxury and world-class service, Mandarin Oriental, Vienna aims to establish itself as both a destination for travellers and a gathering place for the local community. Its opening adds a new dimension to Vienna’s already rich cultural and hospitality landscape, reinforcing the city’s reputation as one of Europe’s premier centres for music, art and refined living.
