Montenegro has been confirmed as the host destination for the ABTA Travel Convention 2027, marking the first time the UK travel industry’s flagship event will be held in the Balkan nation.
The convention will take place from 4 to 6 October 2027 at the five-star Hyatt Regency Kotor Bay Resort, located on the shores of the UNESCO-listed Bay of Kotor.
The announcement was made at the close of ABTA’s 2026 Travel Convention in Madeira, with Montenegro’s National Tourism Organisation highlighting the event as an opportunity to strengthen ties with the UK travel trade. The UK remains one of Montenegro’s key source markets, supported by growing visitor numbers and improved air connectivity.
Delegates attending the convention will have the chance to experience the Bay of Kotor’s blend of dramatic mountain scenery, medieval towns and Adriatic coastline. Organisers also hope to showcase the wider destination, including Montenegro’s five national parks, historic settlements, outdoor adventure opportunities and increasingly acclaimed food and tourism offering.
ABTA Chief Executive Mark Tanzer said the Bay of Kotor would provide a “stunning backdrop” for the association’s flagship event, noting the destination’s growing popularity with UK travellers. Delegates will fly into nearby Tivat International Airport, located just 13km from the convention venue.
The event is expected to bring leading UK travel industry figures to one of Europe’s fastest-growing destinations, further raising Montenegro’s profile among British holidaymakers and travel businesses alike.
