Discover why Newcastle Airport has been named the UK’s most relaxing airport, offering a stress-free travel experience with top-rated restaurants and high customer satisfaction.
Newcastle Airport has been named the UK’s most relaxing airport, situated 289 miles from London. For business travellers, the chaotic experience of long security queues and racing through terminals can be a stressful start to any journey. According to a 2024 survey by Censuswide, nearly one in four Brits would travel more if the airport experience were less stressful.
“The time spent travelling to the airport and waiting inside is usually the most stressful part of a holiday as travellers contend with expensive parking fees and try to find a decent bite to eat,” said a spokesperson. “Journeying far to even get to the airport itself can make passengers feel like they have already had enough of travelling before they have even boarded the plane.”
To help passengers seeking a more relaxed travel experience, a study was conducted to identify the least stressful airports across Europe. Newcastle Airport emerged as the top choice in the UK, ranking seventh overall in Europe. The airport was highly rated for its choice of restaurants, an impressive customer satisfaction rating of 80%, and its close proximity to the city of Newcastle, just 10 kilometres away.
However, the airport did face criticism for its expensive parking and high passenger numbers, with over five million travellers passing through in 2024.
