Northwest based Travel Counsellors, the UK’s largest and fast-growing technology platform for travel entrepreneurs, has been named as one of the ‘Best Places To Work’ in the UK for 2024 by The Sunday Times, in collaboration with WorkL.

This annual accolade, awarded from a comprehensive nationwide workplace assessment, celebrates the nation’s top employers, spotlighting those with exceptional levels of employee engagement and wellbeing. Additionally, it recognises those workplaces excelling in promoting an environment that supports inclusivity for women, LGBTQIA+ communities, ethnic minorities, employees with disabilities, as well as enabling colleagues of all ages to make a key contribution to the company.

This marks Travel Counsellors‘ third inclusion in this prestigious placement, a testament to the company’s unwavering commitment to creating a special company culture and supportive work environment.

The award submission included a written entry and surveyed over 300 of their technology and support team colleagues based at Travel Counsellors’ headquarters in Manchester, who work to support over 2000 travel business owners globally in providing the highest levels of customer service to their leisure customers and corporate clients. The results revealed an outstanding performance, with the company exceeding an 80% satisfaction rate across all areas of the six-step framework and an average happiness score of 82%.

Further results from the survey revealed that 87% of colleagues at Travel Counsellors said they feel proud to work for the organisation and feel treated with respect, 85% enjoy job satisfaction, with over 80% agreeing that their employer cared for their wellbeing and that they are happy and feel safe in their work environment.

Steve Byrne, CEO at Travel Counsellors, said: “We are honoured to once again be acknowledged as one of the ‘Best Places to Work’ by The Sunday Times. This achievement highlights the importance of our culture and the collective dedication and passion of our colleague community, who consistently go above and beyond to support our business, our individual Travel Counsellors, their customers, and each other.

“Our business model is underpinned by a special company culture that places people and their wellbeing at the heart. Our colleagues make a brilliant contribution to our global community by setting and delivering high standards in all that they do. Showing care for our customers and our community and nurturing a strong sense of belonging fosters an environment where people are supported, encouraged and motivated to be the very best they can be.”

Chris Longcroft, EVP Publisher, The Times and The Sunday Times, said: “All organisations are only as good as the people they employ and retain. The Sunday Times Best Places to Work awards recognise companies that are innovating to create an engaged and fulfilling working environment for all and in so doing they are creating the best possible platform for business success. To be named on The Sunday Times Best Places to Work list is a true recognition of excellence and I congratulate those organisations who made the grade this year.”
The company’s commitment to their support team colleagues is backed by a comprehensive suite of wellbeing-focussed initiatives, including digital and in-person workshop learning opportunities, personal and professional development courses, access to internal and external mental health support services, and regular social and celebratory events.
