Brown’s Hotel has joined forces with Sir Paul Smith to launch the Paul Smith Grand Suite, a three-bedroom residence-style suite opening in the heart of Mayfair this month, in a partnership that brings together London’s first luxury hotel and one of Britain’s most celebrated designers.
The new suite expands on the much-admired Sir Paul Smith Suite, which the designer created with Olga Polizzi, Director of Design at Rocco Forte Hotels, and which remains the only hotel room in the world designed by him. The Grand Suite reimagines that accommodation as an expansive private residence, adding two further bedrooms connected by a dedicated Paul Smith hallway to create what the hotel describes as a seamless and immersive guest experience.
Business travellers and long-stay guests will find Sir Paul’s trademark wit and colour throughout. Curtains are lined with the brand’s Signature Stripes, inspired by tailored suit linings and tied back with genuine Paul Smith ties, while the rooms feature rugs from The Rug Company, hand-painted Signature Stripe porcelain lamps by Lyngard, commissioned ceramics by Charlotte Salt and Elaine King, bespoke glassware by Emsie Sharp and Stewart Hearn, and Scottish Harris Tweed fabrics.
The suite also channels the designer’s renowned ‘magpie’ collecting style. English antiques sit alongside vintage Japanese screen prints, a vintage model yacht refitted with sails cut from Paul Smith shirt fabrics, and the brand’s distinctive bronze banana door handles. The result, says the hotel, is a richly layered environment combining the intimacy of a contemporary Mayfair residence with the refined service of Brown’s.
Richard Cooke, Managing Director, Rocco Forte Hotels, United Kingdom and Northern Europe, said: “Sir Paul Smith is not just an amazing designer – for us at Brown’s he is a dear friend and neighbour. The place is better when Paul is in town with his positive take on life. He has an outlook we can all benefit from.”
The launch continues a busy period of investment at the Albemarle Street property, which recently unveiled three new Forte Suites designed by Paolo Moschino and Olga Polizzi, and comes as Rocco Forte Hotels accelerates its global expansion following the sale of a 49 per cent stake to Saudi Arabia’s Public Investment Fund.
It also sharpens competition at the top end of the capital’s suite market, where the Athenaeum has converted its top floor into a rare three-bedroom penthouse overlooking Green Park, as Mayfair’s grandes dames battle for the multi-bedroom, residence-style stays increasingly favoured by families, entourages and C-suite travellers.
The Paul Smith Grand Suite opens for bookings in July 2026.
