Point A Hotels will open its newest Scottish property, Point A Edinburgh St Andrew Square, in summer 2026, marking the brand’s continued expansion across the UK and Ireland.

Point A is a budget boutique brand offering stylish, affordable hotels in prime city locations.

Located at 9–10 St Andrew Square, the 206-room hotel occupies a landmark Category A listed building at the prominent St Andrew Square, offering views across the gardens, Edinburgh Castle and the New Town. The hotel is in close proximity to Waverley Station, the bus station and Edinburgh’s prime retail and leisure districts, including Princes Street and George Street.

The hotel comprises 148 double rooms and 58 twin rooms arranged across six floors. Facilities include a bar and breakfast area, luggage store and a communal ironing room.

Interior design has been led by Leisure Concepts, with Maith Design appointed as project architect. The scheme carefully balances contemporary hospitality design with the building’s historic and architectural significance. Internally, the hotel follows Point A’s latest Gen 5 design concept, developed with Queensway to guide new builds and refurbishments across the brand. At its heart is the Danish principle of ‘Hygge’, focusing on comfort, warmth and a sense of belonging. This approach is reflected through layered textures, considered lighting and calm, functional layouts intended to create welcoming and efficient guest spaces.

The redevelopment also celebrates the building’s architectural heritage. Originally designed by Sir Basil Spence, one of Scotland’s most influential architects and the designer of Coventry Cathedral, the property retains several notable listed features. These include the dramatic entrance lobby, a helix staircase surrounding a cylindrical stainless-steel lift shaft and full-height marble and granite wall cladding, all of which are being carefully restored.

Sustainability has also been a key focus of the redevelopment. Heating, cooling and hot water will be provided through high-efficiency air source heat pumps.

“Edinburgh remains one of the UK’s most dynamic hotel markets and St Andrew Square is one of the city’s most sought-after locations,” said Nic Wenn, Managing Director at Point A Hotels. “We have been presented in Edinburgh since 2019 and we are delighted to be launching our second Hotel in such a great location in the City”

Once open, Point A Edinburgh St Andrew Square will further strengthen the brand’s growing portfolio, bringing its latest generation hotel concept to one of the UK’s most established city centre destinations. The hotel will be open to guests from July, with bookings available now.
