Hilton today announced the signing of a new long-term agreement for Hilton Munich Park with a joint venture company of Commerz Real AG and Hines.

Hilton will continue to manage the property following a visionary redevelopment by the owners as part of the mixed-use Tucherpark project in Munich.

Hilton Munich Park will be integral to the new Tucherpark, a circular city project being developed by the Commerz Real and Hines joint venture. This innovative project will blend residential, retail, office, and hospitality spaces, creating a dynamic new destination and community. The reimagined Hilton Hotels & Resorts property will serve as a central hub within Tucherpark, providing a vibrant space for guests, residents, shoppers, and professionals.

Hilton Munich Park has been a premier destination since opening for the Munich Olympic Games and has a prime location adjacent to the English Gardens, one of the largest inner-city parks in the world. The ambitious redevelopment will further integrate the hotel with the surrounding nature, aligning with Tucherpark’s vision to blend natural beauty with urban convenience. The transformation will begin following the closure of the existing hotel on December 31, 2024, and is scheduled for completion in 2029.

The redevelopment proposals for Hilton Munich Park’s transformation include adding a new rooftop restaurant and bar with panoramic views of the English Gardens, along with restaurants, central bar and retail space on the ground floor. The meeting spaces will be redesigned – including a larger ballroom and a new unconventional city garden venue – to meet the growing demand for event spaces. Enhanced wellness facilities will also be part of the redevelopment.

David Kelly, senior vice president, Continental Europe, Hilton said: “More than five decades since its opening, we’re thrilled to confirm these exciting plans for Hilton Munich Park’s future. The hotel’s new innovative design and state-of-the-art facilities are set to solidify its status as an iconic destination, and ensure it continues to attract business and leisure travellers from around the world, as well as local residents. Working in collaboration with Commerz Real and Hines, we are poised to set new benchmarks in hospitality with this reimagined property.”

Hilton Munich Park will be closed from January 2025 for the redevelopment, with an anticipated reopening in 2029. During this period, Hilton will continue to welcome guests at its other hotels in the city, including Hilton Munich City, Hilton Munich Airport, Hampton by Hilton Munich City West, Hampton by Hilton Munich City North, Hampton by Hilton Munich City Centre East, Hilton Garden Inn Munich City West.
