Travel chaos ensues at Milan Bergamo Airport as a Ryanair flight from Barcelona suffers a tyre explosion upon landing, causing flight suspensions and diversions.
Milan Bergamo Airport (Orio al Serio) faced significant disruptions this morning after a Ryanair flight from Barcelona experienced a tyre explosion upon landing at approximately 8:00 am local time. The incident left the aircraft stranded on the runway, leading to the suspension of all departing flights.
In a statement, SACBO, the airport’s managing company, confirmed the suspension of operations due to the grounded aircraft. “Departing flights are delayed, and arriving flights may be diverted or cancelled until the runway is reopened,” the statement read.
Firefighters promptly evacuated all passengers and crew, with no injuries reported. Flights scheduled to land at Orio al Serio have been redirected to Verona and Milan Malpensa airports.
