As of 1st September 2024, passengers flying from Schiphol, Rotterdam The Hague Airport, and Eindhoven Airport will no longer be permitted to carry liquids in containers larger than 100 ml in their hand luggage.

This reversion to the international standard follows new guidelines from the European Commission and is not linked to any change in threat levels.

Previously, these airports had relaxed the liquid restrictions due to the introduction of advanced CT scanners. However, the reintroduction of the 100 ml limit aligns them with international norms. All liquids in packages up to 100 ml will still be allowed in hand baggage. The regulations for other items remain unchanged, allowing electronics like laptops and phones to stay in hand luggage.

The airports are implementing several measures to ensure passengers are aware of the updated rules. These include extensive information campaigns and the installation of water collectors at security checkpoints where travellers can empty their drink bottles. Additional staff will be on hand to inform passengers about the changes.

Travellers are encouraged to pack larger quantities of liquids in their checked luggage, a long-standing recommendation due to varying airport policies globally.
