SkyAlps has inaugurated a new flight route from London Gatwick to Bolzano, enhancing access for UK visitors to the stunning UNESCO World Heritage Site of the Dolomites.

The Italian boutique airline now offers twice-weekly flights on Wednesdays and Saturdays, featuring a premium onboard experience with complimentary South Tyrolean wines, local delicacies, and guaranteed no middle seats.

What to Expect from the New Route:

Save Time on the Ground: The new route significantly reduces travel time to the Dolomites, with a flight duration of around two hours. Compared to other airports like Innsbruck and Venice, this route nearly halves transfer times. Bolzano’s smaller regional airport ensures quick security checks and stress-free returns with shorter check-in times.

Experience the Best of Both Worlds: Spring visitors can enjoy late-season skiing in the Dolomites while basking in the warmer temperatures and blossoming landscapes of the region’s cities and valleys. Bolzano offers a rich cultural experience with attractions like the South Tyrol Museum of Archaeology, the Fountain of Neptune, and the historic Piazza delle Erbe. After the ski season, numerous hiking trails and outdoor activities await exploration.

Scenic Mountain Views: SkyAlps’ propeller planes fly at lower altitudes, never exceeding 25,000 feet, offering passengers a unique perspective of the Dolomites. This lower altitude travel can help reduce tiredness upon arrival and results in fewer emissions, contributing to a reduced climate impact.

Local Delicacies: Passengers can indulge in a premium complimentary experience onboard, featuring an exclusive menu of South Tyrolean wines. SkyAlps has selected 48 local wine producers for their rotating menus, including four quality wines each month. The in-flight snacks are also local specialties, such as full-fat yoghurt and fennel-flavoured Schüttelbrot, a regional bread.

This new route not only provides a shortcut to one of the world’s most beautiful mountain ranges but also ensures a luxurious and eco-friendly travel experience.
