Uber has announced plans to launch its Uber Shuttle service in the United States, providing transportation to events and airports.
This service, already available in Egypt and India, will soon be accessible to U.S. customers, though specific airports have not yet been disclosed. Uber is collaborating with airport partners and local officials across the U.S. and beyond to roll out this new offering.
Once available, customers will see a ‘Shuttle’ option in the Uber app. Bookings can be made for up to five seats, from seven days in advance to five minutes before the shuttle’s scheduled departure. The app will allow customers to pay for and track their shuttle within 25 minutes of departure.
Key features of Uber Shuttle include knowing the fare upfront, unaffected by surge pricing, and validating a QR-code ticket with the driver upon boarding. Riders can also rate and tip their drivers through the app, maintaining the familiar Uber experience.
Uber envisions expanding Uber Shuttle for Uber for Business clients, noting the potential for integration into their services. Since 2021, Uber has operated shuttle routes for employees at its Mission Bay office in San Francisco, as well as for employees in Seattle and Bangalore, India. The company has also begun offering shuttle services to Uber for Business clients in some international markets and sees significant potential for expansion to more clients in the U.S.
With this new initiative, Uber continues to diversify its transportation solutions, aiming to provide convenient, reliable, and cost-effective options for airport travelers.
