United Airlines is preparing to operate its first international flights on the newly redesigned Boeing 787‑9 Dreamliner, featuring the carrier’s most premium cabin layout to date.
The aircraft, unveiled last year, introduces the United Elevated interior, a nose‑to‑tail redesign that significantly upgrades the long‑haul experience across all cabins.
The first commercial international service will take place in April, operating as flight UA1 from San Francisco to Singapore. A second route, San Francisco to London, will follow shortly after. Ahead of these launches, the aircraft will appear on select domestic services between San Francisco and Houston as crews complete familiarisation flights.
At the heart of the new design is the debut of United Polaris Studio℠ suites – eight spacious, lie‑flat business‑class suites offering 25% more room than standard Polaris seats. Each suite includes a privacy door, an ottoman with a companion seatbelt, wireless charging, Bluetooth connectivity and a 27‑inch 4K OLED screen, the largest seatback display offered by any U.S. airline. The service is complemented by Saks Fifth Avenue bedding, new amenity kits featuring Perricone MD skincare, and an Ossetra caviar amuse‑bouche.
The aircraft also features 56 additional Polaris seats, 35 Premium Plus seats with added privacy and wireless charging, and a refreshed Economy and Economy Plus cabin with 13‑inch 4K screens and Bluetooth at every seat. Across the aircraft, United has prioritised power access, with six outlets per row in Economy.
United says the Elevated interior marks a new chapter for its long‑haul offering, with a focus on comfort, personal space and technology. The airline plans to have at least 30 Dreamliners fitted with the new interior flying globally by the end of 2027.
