Wizz Air to Launch New Route from London Gatwick to Valencia

The airline announced a new daily direct flight route from London Gatwick to the Spanish beach city of Valencia launching in March 2026.

Low-cost airline giant, Wizz Air, has announced a new flight service running daily direct flights from London Gatwick to Valencia. This route will launch on 29th March 2026 and fares will be available from as little as £40 for a return journey.

This new route joins Wizz Air’s growing Valencia network, including the Luton-Valencia service, which will also start in March 2026  and will operate five times weekly.

Wizz Air’s Luton–Valencia service further strengthens the city’s overall flight connectivity, joining direct flights from 10 UK airports and two in Ireland. With flight times averaging under three hours, Valencia is ideal for a quick getaway, offering an exciting 2026 calendar of sporting events, arts exhibitions and vibrant cultural festivities.

Celebrate 10 Years of Las Fallas as a UNESCO Heritage

Las Fallas received the recognition as a UNESCO Intangible Cultural Heritage of Humanity in November 2016. The festivity is held annually in March and dates back to the 18th century when carpenters would burn pieces of wood which was used to prop up their lights during winter. Today, the Fallas Festival represents a celebration of spring and spans some 19-days of action.

Welcome the Gay Games to Valencia

The city of Valencia will become the global epicenter of equality and sport from 27 June – 4 July  2026 as the city hosts the 12th Gay Games. With more than 3,000 participants and 37 disciplines open to all genders, the city will celebrate inclusion, achievement, and participation. This international event not only offers sports competitions but also cultural and social activities that showcase Valencia as an open, modern city proud of its diversity.

Catch the Total Solar Eclipse

Valencia will be one of the main European urban enclaves from which a total solar eclipse can be observed on 12 August 2026. The unique astronomical phenomenon that will not occur again in the Iberian Peninsula until 2090. Although it will still be daylight, at around 8:32 pm the city will be plunged into total darkness for just over a minute. Open spaces facing west are expected to be the best observation points, this is sure to be an unmissable event for astronomy lovers.

Explore a New Home for Sorolla

In autumn 2026, Valencia will open the Sorolla Museum at the Palace of Communications, right in the heart of the city. The museum will showcase more than 220 works by famed Valencian painter, Joaquín Sorolla, loaned by the Hispanic Society of America, establishing Valencia as the European home of one of the most important figures in Hispanic art. Known for his luminous depictions of Mediterranean light, Valencian beaches and everyday Spanish life, Sorolla (1863–1923) was a celebrated impressionist painter whose work captured both the beauty and vitality of his homeland.
