London Golf Club crowned UK’s most Instagrammable golf spot
Golf across the UK sees different levels of online popularity, with people always looking to play the most scenic golf possible, and a new study has revealed that London Golf Club steals the spotlight as the nation’s most photographed golfing location.
Casino review site CasinoDoc pinpointed where snap-happy golfers most often post, with Kent’s London Golf Club grabbing first place with 6,996 Instagram posts. Players often share snaps of the course’s fairways and stunning landscape views.
Wentworth Golf Club in Surrey bagged second with 6,044 Instagram uploads. Players flock to this prestigious venue that hosts the BMW PGA Championship.
The bronze medal went to Buckinghamshire’s Woburn Golf Club with 4,525 posts, while the historic Sunningdale Golf Club rounded out the top five with 3,915 social media posts.
Breaking the southern stronghold seen across the top five spots, northern-based Newcastle Golf Club ranked fifth with 3,746 Instagram posts.
The legendary Royal Liverpool Golf Club, famous for hosting the Open Championship, landed sixth with 2,710 posts highlighting its dramatic coastal views.
Exeter Golf & Country Club took seventh with 2,347 posts, Rye Golf Club took eighth with 2,256 posts.
The top ten is rounded out by Wildwood Golf Club and Upchurch River Valley Golf Club, who were tagged in 2,223 and 2,190 posts, respectively.
There’s a clear southern bias in the results, with seven of the top ten most Instagram-popular golf courses situated in southern England. This may be due to the better weather allowing players to capture Insta-worthy shots throughout the year.
Maxime Beggiato from CasinoDoc commented on the findings: “Social media has changed how golfing venues attract visitors, with looks now almost as important as the quality of play. The old classics still draw photographers, but spots with dramatic scenery and unique features are increasingly popular on Instagram.
“Places offering access to the biggest events in golf, like Wentworth Golf Club, get way more social media buzz than more traditional clubs. This tells us that when management wants more attention, they should play up their most striking visual features, regularly share snapshots online and try to host tournaments where possible.”
